What is Menopause?

Menopause is a major hormonal shift that every woman experiences, but that doesn’t mean you have to endure frustrating symptoms without solutions. Hot flashes, mood swings, weight gain, and fatigue aren’t just ‘part of the process’—they’re signs that your body needs support.

For some women, menopause is a smooth transition. For others, it can feel like their body is working against them. If you’ve noticed unexpected changes in your mood, energy, or metabolism, you’re not alone—and you don’t have to suffer through it.

The right approach can help you balance your hormones naturally, regain your energy, and start feeling like yourself again. At Higher Health, we specialize in naturopathic menopause support—helping women in Toronto move through menopause with ease, confidence, and lasting relief.

Understanding menopause and hormonal changes naturally.

Common Symptoms of Menopause

Menopause affects every woman differently, but some common symptoms include:

  • Hot flashes & night sweats – Sudden waves of heat that disrupt your day (and sleep).
  • Mood swings & anxiety – Emotional ups and downs, irritability, and increased stress.
  • Fatigue & low energy – Feeling drained, even after a full night’s rest.
  • Weight gain & metabolism changes – Hormonal shifts that make it harder to maintain weight.
  • Brain fog & memory issues – Trouble focusing, forgetfulness, and mental sluggishness.
  • Sleep disturbances – Insomnia or waking up frequently at night.
  • Vaginal dryness & low libido – Changes that affect intimacy and overall comfort.

If you’re experiencing these symptoms,
you don’t have to tough it out—there are safe, effective ways to restore balance and feel better.

How We Can Help: Naturopathic Menopause Treatment in Toronto

Our team includes Menopause Society Certified Practitioners and experienced naturopathic doctors who specialize in women’s health and hormone balance. You’ll receive expert guidance from professionals who understand the complexities of menopause and how to navigate it effectively.

At Higher Health, we take a personalized and natural approach to menopause support. Rather than masking symptoms with temporary fixes, we focus on getting to the root cause of your discomfort and helping your body adjust smoothly.

Our menopause treatment includes:

Comprehensive Hormone Testing – We go beyond basic hormone panels to give you a complete picture of your hormonal health. Our testing includes key markers such as estrogen, progesterone, testosterone, DHEA, cortisol, and thyroid function, all of which play a crucial role in menopause. Imbalances in these hormones can contribute to symptoms like weight gain, mood swings, hot flashes, and fatigue.

We assess how these hormones interact and identify specific imbalances that need support. Unlike conventional hormone tests, which often look at limited factors, our approach considers
how your body metabolizes hormones, whether you have estrogen dominance or deficiencies, and how your adrenal glands and thyroid are functioning.
With this in-depth analysis, we create a targeted treatment plan designed to bring your hormones back into balance naturally—without unnecessary medications or guesswork.

Custom Supplement & Herbal Plans – Specific vitamins, minerals, and herbs to support balance and reduce symptoms.

Nutritional Guidance – Foods that nourish your body and stabilize hormones.

Lifestyle & Stress Management – Simple changes that make a big difference in how you feel.

IV Therapy for Energy & Mood – Targeted nutrients to support your energy, mental clarity, and overall well-being.

Acupuncture & Red Light Therapy – Proven therapies to reduce stress, improve sleep, and ease symptoms naturally.

With naturopathic menopause treatment, you can take back control and start feeling better—without relying on medications that may come with unwanted side effects.

Natural Menopause Support: What to Expect

Menopause is confirmed once you have gone twelve months without a period. That makes it a different clinical problem from perimenopause, where hormones are still fluctuating unpredictably. Here, levels have settled at a new baseline, and the priorities shift from managing fluctuation to protecting long-term health while dealing with the symptoms you still have.

Step 1: A consultation long enough to be useful

Your first appointment is 75 minutes. We go through your symptom history, when your periods stopped, what you have already tried, your medications, your family history of osteoporosis and cardiovascular disease, and how you are actually sleeping and functioning day to day.

Step 2: Testing that reflects where you are

We start with comprehensive bloodwork. After menopause, FSH and estradiol are less useful for guiding treatment than they were during the transition, so the panel weights differently: a full thyroid panel, ferritin, B12, vitamin D, fasting insulin and A1C, and a lipid panel, because cardiovascular risk changes measurably once estrogen declines. Often more, depending on your history.

Whether we add DUTCH or saliva hormone testing is a decision that comes out of the conversation, not a box we tick by default. It earns its place when your symptoms do not line up with what serum results show, or when your cortisol rhythm and the way you metabolise estrogen genuinely matter to the plan. If a test will not change what we do next, we do not run it.

We check iron even when periods have stopped. Years of heavy bleeding during the transition can leave ferritin depleted well afterwards, and low ferritin causes the same fatigue and brain fog that gets written off as menopause itself. Where stores are low enough that oral iron will not catch up, an iron infusion may be appropriate.

Step 3: A treatment plan built from your results

Depending on your findings, that may include:

  • Symptom management for hot flashes, night sweats, sleep disruption and mood, using herbal and nutritional approaches with evidence behind them.
  • Bone and cardiovascular protection, which becomes a genuine priority after menopause rather than an afterthought — vitamin D, calcium status, protein intake, resistance training and lipid management.
  • Supplement protocols chosen against your bloodwork rather than a standard list.
  • IV therapy where absorption is limiting or stores need replenishing faster than oral supplementation allows.
  • Nutrition and blood sugar strategy, since insulin sensitivity commonly shifts after menopause and drives both weight change and energy crashes.

Prescriptions where they are appropriate. Our naturopathic doctors and nurse practitioners can prescribe, including bioidentical hormones. If hormone therapy is the right option for you, it can be managed here as part of the same plan rather than starting again somewhere else.

We follow up about a month after your plan begins, and after that as needed. We offer direct billing for extended health insurance.

If your periods have not fully stopped and your cycles are still irregular, you are likely still in the transition — see perimenopause treatment, or our broader approach to hormone balance.

I started IV therapy last year at Higher Health after discovering I had a Vitamin D deficiency. I completed four IV therapy sessions along with a Vitamin D infusion, and after six months, my blood work is now optimal—and I’m feeling great. The experience at Higher Health is exceptional. The space is incredibly peaceful, and they even offer Red Light Therapy, which made my time there feel even more relaxing and restorative. I was treated by Dr. Tara, who was wonderful, but truly, everyone at the clinic is professional, kind, and welcoming. I highly recommend Higher Health and look forward to continuing my visits!

It was my first time at HigherHealth for a consultation with Dr. Tara and my first IV vitamin therapy session. I absolutely loved the facility — it’s very clean, bright, and cozy. Dr. Tara was extremely thorough and detail-oriented. She created a customized treatment plan tailored specifically to my needs, and I really appreciated that she was not pushy about supplements at all. It felt very professional and patient-centered. The front desk staff were welcoming and attentive, and the lab technician, Kira, was both skillful and kind, which made the IV experience smooth and comfortable. Overall, I had a wonderful experience and had a great results for the IV therapy would definitely consider planning an IV drip date with my girlfriends for a fun and health-focused outing. Highly recommended 💯
